We recently discussed how influential Indian-Americans in the private sector are shaping the new and rapidly morphing world of AI that will have profound consequences for the entire world. Here in this video by the venture cap firm a16z’s channel you can hear from the CIA’s first-ever CTO Nand Mulchandani about a fascinating, different perspective on AI from the US government’s point of view: the shadowy world of high-tech intel in international espionage. I was not aware of this name until I stumbled across this video thanks to YouTube’s machine learning algorithm, how very meta. Mulchandani is yet another example of how brown folk are involved in the rollout of AI in various ways that are hard to imagine in these early innings. I for one am glad that the Agency is participating in public relations efforts such as this one to educate the public about efforts we might not find in the headlines, and I hope you’ll take the time to watch and learn like I did:
