Culture
Culture is the most mysterious, organic and free of any aspect of U.S.-India relations. Governments and business leaders cannot hope to initiate or stop cultural phenomena from occurring anywhere in the world. This is one area where the elites are simply out of the way. Common people and often, youth are responsible for the cultural imports and exports that make America and India what they are today. Those could include yoga in L.A., the Hare Krishna movement in New York, red dots on American pop divas’ foreheads, blue jeans in Bangalore pubs, cheerleaders in Chennai, or new hybrid creations such as Jay-Z collaborating with Punjabi MC. Cultural trends are both interesting and useful to know about but as a media site we can only hope to keep up. We do our best to capture the spirit of the times on this page.
